The Rich & Powerful

Our culture definitely equates wealth with success. Power and fame is desirable. But Pastor Tom shows us today that we most likely would be better off without any of the above. Jesus warned us that it was difficult for the rich to enter the kingdom of Heaven, and we’ll see some of the reasons why when we unpack this message in James’ letter. It might just change our goals and even our prayers when we realize how huge the trap is that these things create.

Founding Pastor

Thomas F. Leake was called by God’s grace to be the church planter and then Senior Pastor of Hope Bible Church in Columbia, MD for over 24 years. He received his Master of Arts degree in Theology from Capital Bible Seminary, and in 1997 obtained his Master of Divinity degree from The Master’s Seminary in Los Angeles, CA.

He was the founder of The Master’s Fellowship – Mid-Atlantic (formerly Grace Advance Mid-Atlantic (GAMA)), a fellowship of like-minded expository churches in the region, and served on the Board of Directors. He also served as the founder and president of the TMF Bible Institute, which offers biblical and theological studies taught by pastors-teachers throughout the mid-Atlantic region. He was blessed with a godly wife, believing grown children, and a loving church congregation. In 2021, he lost his battle with pancreatic cancer and went home to be with his Savior.
