Awana will only be open to HBC members from fall 2015-summer 2016.
The ministry philosophy of Hope Bible Church is to glorify our Lord Jesus Christ through the active pursuit of worship, discipleship, and evangelism. It is the desire of the Awana Ministry that our children and youth come to know, love, and serve our Lord Jesus Christ. To see this desire realized in our children, the Awana Ministry will pursue worship, discipleship, and evangelism through the use of curriculum, Bible lessons and games. These tools build upon each other year after year starting from the age of 2 to 18. During this first proposed year of Awana at Hope Bible Church, we plan to serve children between the ages of 3 and 11. Although the focus of Awana is primarily upon the children, we also see this ministry as a means of encouraging the parents to be greater spiritual leaders in the home.
In order to worship God in spirit and truth, we must know Him as He has revealed Himself within the Scriptures. The Bible is therefore central to all activities of Awana. The foundational truths of God will be especially evident in the Bible lessons, songs, games, memory verses, and small group discussions.
Discipleship is the maturing process where we find Biblical teachings are now being applied to the Christian life. It is the goal of Awana to also disciple children, in cooperation with the Holy Spirit, for the purpose of displaying Christ-like character in their lives.
Awana also contributes to the purpose of evangelism. It provides children with the unique opportunity to reach out to unsaved friends by offering a safe and fun environment where they will hear the gospel.
